DXHUNTER comes with 9 default classic HF bands (10, 12, 15, 17, 20,
30, 40, 80,160) and 2 default modes (SSB, CW) per band.
This is not a good new for who loves DXes also on 6m and VHF or other
bands.
Anyway each mode and band has its own range that can be changed as
desired in CONFIG.EXE (last parameter page); so if you don't use 160m,
or any other HF band, you can replace the default unused ranges with
6m or VHF or even satellite bands (up to 8 digits are allowed for each
range limit).
As an example let's suppose you put VHF limits into 160 ranges.
When a New One is spotted on VHF, an alert is activated, even if the
spot is still displayed as "160" (the names of bands and modes can't
be changed).
So it's only a problem of definition, all the other functions of the
program can be obtained for any desired band (maximum 9 bands and 2
modes per band).
Many OMs are currently using the program on 6M and VHF, with success
and satisfaction.
If you like substance of things and don't care a lot about appearance,
DXHUNTER could be a great solution to your DX on 6m, VHF or any other
outside HF ham band.
If you like appearance, consider also the fact that you can disable
spot comments (Choosing YES-C in CONFIG: DISPLAY ALL MESSAGES).
THE DXHUNTER: THE SOFT WAY OF HUNTING!!!.
